In a school full of stressed teenagers, the Child Development room feels like a space where students can just relax and have fun with preschoolers. Greeting everyone, big and small, Mrs. Lucas makes our school a better place.
Her coworker, Mrs. Soderholm, said that Mrs. Lucas is “full of patience, kindness, and our little ones, along with her, bring joy to our high schoolers’ lives, and that starts with her; she leads the way as far as making sure they’re safe and having fun.”
Mrs. Lucas specifically helps with the Helping Hands Preschool at Wilton High, teaching both the high schoolers who take the Child Development class and the little children in the preschool. With a smile and warm presence, she supports the Child Development students as they acquire hands-on experience with the preschoolers.
In collaboration with Wilton Loves, The Forum is highlighting Mrs. Lucas as a Hidden Gem because of her “patience and dedication [that] shine through in everything she does”, according to Mrs. Soderholm.
Additionally, one of her students, Liberta Kastrati, said that she “should be nominated because she makes everyone feel special in their own way”.
In true Hidden Gem fashion, Mrs. Lucas does not seek out our praise; rather, she works tirelessly as a pillar of the Child Development classroom and the Helping Hands Preschool here at Wilton High School.
