Not everyone would drive their younger brother to school every day. Not everyone would volunteer their free time to help at nearby hospitals. Not everyone would raise money to help local animals. Not everyone would – but WHS Senior Keira Rafferty does all that, and so much more.
Friends such as WHS Senior Kara Mobyed describe Rafferty as “a standout student” who “works hard and advocates for herself.” All that she brings to the WHS community, however, goes far beyond the classroom.
Mobyed describes Rafferty as “a true leader who consistently demonstrates kindness and support for her friends” and “a valuable member of the school community because of her strong yet compassionate nature.” Rafferty is always there with a smile, making both her fellow seniors and underclassmen feel welcome, heard, and appreciated.
Rafferty has been an invaluable part of the WHS theater program since her sophomore year. Producer – and occasional director – Kathryn Luckstone feels that Rafferty “always brings a positive attitude, a sense of humor, and a calm demeanor.” She serves as a role model for younger students, both on and off the stage.
“It is always a delight to have Keira as a member of a cast, knowing she will always make the experience brighter and better for everyone involved,” Luckstone says.
Rafferty also stands out for her generosity in the community. She is the treasurer of Paws For A Cause, the school club dedicated to raising money for animal shelters. She also volunteers at nearby hospitals throughout the year.
“Keira’s constant commitment to serving others demonstrates her true desire to have a meaningful, positive impact wherever she goes,” Mobyed says.
Rafferty is constantly working behind the scenes to make Wilton High School – and beyond – a better place for all of us. From raising money for puppies in need of a home to simply lending a friend a computer charger at a three-hour rehearsal, she is always there to brighten someone’s day. Her commitment to helping others – both on a broad and personal level – makes her a true Hidden Gem.
